The "City of Truro".....
A long-lost design of H.J. Coventry's is his 1" scale, 4-3/4" gauge 4-4-0 "City of Truro". This locomotive is beauty, grace, and power in a small design that can easily be handled in the small home workshop. Imagine running this on some sunny Sunday among the trees in your backyard, up and down the short "spur track" in your side yard, or, at your local club. Can you smell the hot oil and the coal smoke, just thinking about it?
Recommended machinery: 10" lathe, medium sized milling machine, hand tools.
4-3/4" gauge (standard for the USA and most of Canada) Coal-fired Inside (between the frames) slide valve cylinders Stephenson valve gear Drive Wheels, 7" diameter Pilot & Tender Wheels, 4" diameter Copper boiler, silver soldered Belpaire firebox (cast iron formers for the firebox will be available) Superheater Steam Brakes American-style "pull" throttle
