Classic Live Steam of Yesteryear

H.J. Coventry City of Truro GWR 1" scale live steam castings
Here is H.J. Coventry's ORIGINAL "City of Truro" Model. Yes, this is THE locomotive built by Mr. Coventry. It is 1" scale, for 4-3/4" gauge. If you are interested in castings and drawings for this locomotive, please make your desires known to me.
The "City of Truro".....

A long-lost design of H.J. Coventry's is his 1" scale, 4-3/4" gauge 4-4-0 "City of Truro". This locomotive is beauty, grace, and power in a small design that can easily be handled in the small home workshop. Imagine running this on some sunny Sunday among the trees in your backyard, up and down the short "spur track" in your side yard, or, at your local club. Can you smell the hot oil and the coal smoke, just thinking about it?

Recommended machinery: 10" lathe, medium sized milling machine, hand tools.

4-3/4" gauge (standard for the USA and most of Canada)
Coal-fired
Inside (between the frames) slide valve cylinders
Stephenson valve gear
Drive Wheels, 7" diameter
Pilot & Tender Wheels, 4" diameter
Copper boiler, silver soldered
Belpaire firebox (cast iron formers for the firebox will be available)
Superheater
Steam Brakes
American-style "pull" throttle

If you are interested in having "rough castings" and drawings once again available for this locomotive, please make your desires known to me. Friends Yankee Shop Models will put castings for it back on the market if there is any interest.

In the meantime, please enjoy the photos of H.J. Coventry's actual and ORIGINAL "City of Truro" locomotive.

Thank you for looking, and for your interest in the "City of Truro".
